Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Marrie Bottelson. I am 48 years old. I like to do art. I am very independent. I like painting cats and flowers.
Where and when do your best creative ideas often strike you? What inspires your artistic practice?
My creative ideas strike me when I think about what I want to do. I am inspired by people and pictures of cats and flowers.
Tell us about your piece that’s included in Spellbound.
I love to paint cats, I think they are goofy and cute. The cat in the painting for this show is no exception! I painted a Halloween black cat wearing a pumpkin costume, its head, paws and tail are sticking out. I painted the pumpkin to look like a real, carved pumpkin but then decided to make it into a costume. It is a cat in a pumpkin. I hope you like it.
Do you have any Halloween traditions?
I like to hand out candy to little kids who are trick-or-treating.
Are you working on anything new you’d like to share with us?
I am making portraits of my family member's dogs for Christmas presents.
