Good Together

Our first exhibition of 2023 is Good Together! This show features artwork from a six-class series we held at the gallery. These workshops were designed for individuals with disabilities but were open to all.

We explored visual storytelling with Christi Furnas, Urban Landscapes with Katrina Knutson, Intuitive Acrylics Process Painting with Catherine A Palmer, gesture drawing with Lara Hanson, Fabric, Pattern, and Play with Sophia Munic, and SAORI weaving with Chiaki O'Brien!

Most of the work in this exhibition was completed by participants from MSS, Fresh Eye Gallery's parent organization. MSS is a day and employment services provider for individuals with disabilities in the Twin Cities Metro Area. MSS has had a robust creative arts program since 1999. In 2021, we formalized our open studio model of services for artists with disabilities who are exploring art as a career, by rebranding the studio program as Fresh Eye Arts.

Fresh Eye Arts supports artists in developing and sustaining a creative practice, providing materials and mentorship, opportunities to engage with the arts community and more. We opened Fresh Eye Gallery in 2021 to provide the artists we serve the opportunity to show and sell their work alongside their peers from the Twin Cities arts community.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund
