Fiber Art and Well-Being Survey

Does fiber art intersect with wellness and/or mental health in your life? We want to hear from you!  This survey will collect responses from the community for the duration of Fibers of My Being at Fresh Eye Gallery, May 1-June 8, 2025. We intend to publish selections from the responses at the end of the show.

About Fibers of My Being:

This exhibition highlights the many ways fiber artworks can positively benefit mental health. Textiles are dually a community-strengthening resource and a deeply private process, depending on the context in which they are created.
The process of repetitive hand movement can help calm an overstimulated mind. “Slow crafts” which allow mind to flow freely while your hands are busy, without the aid of a screen device, are precious skills.

When you give or receive a handmade gift, you are also giving or receiving an item which was made manifest over countless hours of “I was thinking of you”. Gifting or displaying a handmade object embodies our communal urge to celebrate, to mourn, to protest. It signifies importance, paid for with our time.
The work on display in this exhibition encapsulates these values, contextualized by each artist’s unique perspective.

Responses can be anynomous or signed.
